Training Schedule

Sunday Training 2016

Sunday training has started and will occur most Sundays through to September. To ensure you know times, please download the Sunday training schedule below. Please note the specific venues as they change throughout the season.

Monday Training 2015
Every Monday afternoon during school term 3.20pm - 4pm

Team Building sessions – meet on the oval at the back of the gym at 3-20pm. Bring a snack to eat before we start, water filled bottle, suitable shoes & clothes for running in, a positive attitude and good listening ears.

Parents picking up children should note that we will be training either on the oval or in the gym. Parents must come and collect their child from Ms Gent at the gym unless they are riding home, walking home or going to OSHC.

Please note the dates below, particularly in reference to the start of term.

A number of the first Monday training sessions will incorporate the rules. These are important for riders to be familiar with for safety during races. We will be playing games that will help students understand these rules.


Friday Training 2015

Every Friday morning during school term 7.45am - 8.30am – run by Team Manager, Ros Mayfield

Option to walk/run or ride a 3km loop.  This training is considered fitness training which can be counted in your log books.

Ros Mayfield, one of our Team Managers, has kindly volunteered to lead these sessions each week.  A couple of our Old Scholars Team (OST) will also be out riding with the team quite often to provide leadership and assistance. Ros can be contacted on 0418 891 769 for queries or if your rider is going to be absent or is sick.

For the safety of riders, they will be grouped in teams of similar abilities.  They MUST remain in their groups and not leave a team member behind.  If one team member falls behind, the others must ride with them until they meet up with Ros.  At that point Ros will make an assessment as to whether the rider rides with the walking team or continues with their cycling team or is joined with another cycling team.  Please ensure you discuss this with your child and check that they understand why we have this safety rule.

Please note – if rain has been falling overnight Thursday, or the weather report on the Thursday night is forecasting rain either on the Thursday evening or Friday morning, bike training will be cancelled for that week.  The course can become muddy and slippery when wet and we do not want students going to school muddy or wet.  This is for their safety and comfort.  In place of bike training, we will be using the COLA and doing fitness training including relays and ball work.

As we have use of the COLA, training will continue in either mentioned form, regardless of the weather (unless extremely windy in which case all training will be cancelled that day).  If anyone (parents or riders) has ideas on fitness games they would enjoy doing in the COLA on wet weather days, please speak to Ros.

Meet at the end of Campus Drive each Friday at 7.40am. The group departs promptly at 7.45am.

Those that are riding, please bring

  • your bike
  • safety helmet
  • suitable footwear
  • comfortable clothes may be worn (please ensure you bring correct school uniform to change into after practice).
  • water filled drink bottle

 Those that are walking, please ensure you have

  • suitable footwear for walking/running
  • comfortable clothes/school uniform as above
  • water filled drink bottle

If any parents would like to join in the sessions to encourage the students or just to improve their own  fitness, please contact Ros on 0418 891 769 and advise availability, or just turn up on a casual basis.

Cancellations will be noted on the home page of our website by 7.15am on Friday morning.
